Foxfire Village, which was incorporated by an act of the North Carolina State Legislature in 1977, had its beginnings as a golf resort. Located only two miles west of historic Pinehurst, the Village surrounds two 18 hole championship golf courses and a large equestrian development. In many ways Foxfire Village, a world nestled under the longleaf and loblolly pines that frame the beautiful homes and spacious home sites, is indeed a contradiction of the fast pace of today's world. With the conscientious efforts of its residents and members of the Council, Foxfire Village has become a premier residential and vacation community.
In 2009, the Village annexed 1,500 acres called Stonehill Pines, LLC. Over the next ten to fifteen years this beautiful wooded area will be the home to two Jack Nicklaus designed golf courses, a five-star hotel, conference center and spa, and a variety of home sites, condominiums and townhouses.
The Village has grown from 2,100 acres in 2003 to over 5,000 acres through voluntary annexations.
In December of 2010 the Woodland Circle 1.5 mile extension project was completed along the Eastside golf course. This project opens up over 350 acres for future development.
